Popular rhythms
The most popular rhythm is probably “Morna” with it`s slow movement and melancholic atmosphere. “Coladeira” is vivid and contagious. “Funaná” and “Batuko” have a strong african influence whereas “Mazurka” is of european heritage. “San Jom” has it`s roots in christian medieval portuguese traditions.
Needless to say that there are many ways to interpret these popular rhythms. What I show here is my personal choice.
